"Minsan" was written by Ely Buendia and released on November 4, 1994 as part of Eraserheads' second studio album Circus . The song is described as a nostalgic tune "fitting enough to be a graduation anthem" and mentions Kalayaan, a dormitory building where Buendia stayed while studying at UP Diliman .

Interestingly, Buendia later clarified that the song was actually about his real friends during his stay at Kalayaan, not about his bandmates . Drummer Raimund Marasigan confirmed this, noting that they were never really close friends but had a strong musical connection: "We would meet and play and jam... and you don't need to talk when you're jamming. Meron din namang connection din 'yon (There's still a connection)" .
